Buckets of Money ("Buckets of Money," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the information you provide when you use the Buckets of Money website, application, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, when we share it, and the choices available to you.

Buckets of Money is a budgeting and financial organization tool designed to help people understand, organize, and manage their money. The Service does not currently connect directly to bank accounts or financial institutions, and we do not currently use artificial intelligence to provide the Service.

By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us, information generated through your use of the Service, and limited technical information collected automatically.

A. Account Information

When you create an account, we may collect:

  • First and last name
  • Email address
  • Username
  • Password or authentication information
  • Age or date of birth information, if requested
  • Account preferences
  • Subscription information

We collect only information reasonably necessary to provide and maintain your account and the Service.

B. Budget and Financial Information

Buckets of Money allows users to create and manage their own budgets. Depending on the features you use, you may enter information such as:

  • Income amounts
  • Expense amounts
  • Budget amounts
  • Spending categories or "buckets"
  • Planned transactions
  • Actual transactions
  • Savings goals
  • Debt information
  • Wishlist items
  • Transaction dates, descriptions, and amounts
  • Credits and returns
  • Budget notes
  • Other information you choose to enter into the Service

This information is used to provide the budgeting functionality of Buckets of Money. Buckets of Money does not currently connect directly to users' bank accounts, credit cards, investment accounts, or other financial institutions. Users manually enter the financial information they choose to track within the Service.

C. Payment Information

Paid subscriptions are processed through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. When you subscribe to Buckets of Money, Stripe may collect and process payment information necessary to complete your transaction. We may receive information from Stripe such as:

  • Subscription status
  • Payment status
  • Billing history
  • Subscription type
  • Limited payment information

We do not intend to store complete credit or debit card numbers on our own systems when Stripe processes your payment. Payment processing is subject to Stripe's own terms and privacy practices.

D. Information Collected Automatically

When you use the Service, we may automatically collect limited technical and usage information, such as IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, application version, date and time of access, pages or features used, general usage information, and diagnostic and performance information. We may use cookies and similar technologies to operate, secure, analyze, and improve the Service.

E. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use Buckets of Money and to improve the Service. Google Analytics may collect information such as device and browser information, approximate location information, session and usage information, and certain identifiers used to distinguish users or sessions. We do not intentionally send users' manually entered budget amounts, transaction amounts, or other financial information to Google Analytics.

2. How We Use Information

We may use information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain user accounts
  • Provide budgeting and money-management functionality
  • Save and display budgets and transactions entered by users
  • Calculate budget balances and other budgeting information
  • Process subscriptions and payments
  • Provide customer support
  • Communicate with users about their accounts
  • Send important service, security, and administrative communications
  • Improve the Service and understand how features are used
  • Diagnose technical problems
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
  • Comply with applicable legal requirements
  • Enforce our Terms of Service

We may also use aggregated or de-identified information for legitimate business purposes such as analytics, research, and product development.

3. We Do Not Sell Your Financial Information

Buckets of Money does not sell users' personal financial information. We also do not currently use users' budget or transaction information for targeted advertising. Your manually entered financial information is used primarily to provide the budgeting functionality you requested.

4. How We Share Information

We may share personal information in limited circumstances.

A. Service Providers

We may share information with trusted companies that provide services necessary to operate Buckets of Money, including payment processing providers, hosting and technology providers, analytics providers, email and communication providers, customer support providers, and security and fraud-prevention providers. These companies are permitted to use information only as reasonably necessary to provide services to us or as otherwise permitted by applicable law.

B. Stripe

Stripe processes payments and subscriptions for Buckets of Money. Payment information may be transmitted directly to Stripe or processed by Stripe as necessary to complete transactions.

C. Google Analytics

We share limited information with Google Analytics for website/application analytics and product improvement. We do not intentionally send users' manually entered budget balances, transaction amounts, or other financial budgeting information to Google Analytics.

D. Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to comply with applicable laws or regulations, respond to a valid legal process, protect the rights or property of Buckets of Money, protect users or others from harm, or detect or investigate fraud, security incidents, or unlawful activity.

E. Business Transfers

If Buckets of Money is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, reorganization, bankruptcy, or similar transaction, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

5. Children's Privacy

Buckets of Money is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not create an account or provide personal information through the Service.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete that information from our systems. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided personal information to Buckets of Money, please contact us at support@bucketsofmoneybudget.app.

6. Account and Data Deletion

Users may delete their Buckets of Money account and associated data through the account settings or by contacting us. When an account is deleted, we will take reasonable steps to delete the user's personal information and budgeting information from our active systems. Some information may be retained when reasonably necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, maintain security, enforce our agreements, or complete financial or accounting obligations.

7. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate business, legal, security, and accounting purposes. We may retain information for longer when required by law or when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, or maintain appropriate business and financial records.

8. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Because Buckets of Money involves financial budgeting information, we take the security of that information seriously. However, no method of transmitting or storing information electronically can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are responsible for protecting their account credentials and should notify us promptly if they believe their account has been accessed without authorization.

9. Cookies and Similar Technologies

We may use cookies and similar technologies to keep users signed in, maintain security, remember preferences, understand Service usage, analyze traffic, and improve the user experience. Google Analytics may use cookies or other identifiers depending on how the Service is configured. Users may be able to control cookies through their browser or device settings.

10. Communications

We may send users communications necessary to operate the Service, including account-related messages, subscription and billing information, security notices, service announcements, customer support communications, and changes to our policies or agreements. Where permitted by law, we may also send promotional communications. Users may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the unsubscribe instructions provided in those communications. Service-related communications may still be sent when necessary to operate the account or provide important information.

11. Third-Party Services

Buckets of Money currently uses third-party services, including Stripe for payment processing and subscription management, and Google Analytics for website/application analytics and product improvement. Third-party services may have their own privacy policies and terms. We encourage users to review those policies. We do not control the privacy practices of third-party companies.

12. No Bank Account Connections

Buckets of Money does not currently connect directly to users' bank accounts, credit cards, investment accounts, or other financial institutions. Users enter the financial information they wish to track within the Service. If we add financial-account connection functionality in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy as appropriate and as required by applicable law.

13. No Artificial Intelligence

Buckets of Money does not currently use artificial intelligence to analyze, generate, or make decisions based on users' budgeting or financial information. If we introduce AI functionality in the future, we will update our privacy practices and this Privacy Policy as appropriate.

14. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including requesting access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, requesting a copy of certain personal information, opting out of certain types of data processing where applicable, and appealing certain privacy decisions where required by law. To exercise applicable privacy rights, contact support@bucketsofmoneybudget.app. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

15. Colorado Privacy Rights

If you are a Colorado resident, you may have additional rights under the Colorado Privacy Act ("CPA"), subject to applicable exceptions and limitations. Depending on the circumstances, these rights may include rights to access, correct, delete, and obtain a copy of certain personal data, as well as certain rights relating to targeted advertising, sale of personal data, and profiling. Buckets of Money does not sell users' personal financial information. Colorado residents may submit privacy requests by contacting support@bucketsofmoneybudget.app.

16. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, applicable California privacy laws may provide additional rights regarding your personal information, including the right to know what personal information is collected, request access to or deletion or correction of personal information, opt out of certain sales or sharing of personal information, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive equal treatment for exercising applicable privacy rights. Buckets of Money does not sell users' personal financial information. California residents may submit privacy requests by contacting support@bucketsofmoneybudget.app.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice through the Service, by email, or through another appropriate method. Your continued use of the Service after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
